Matru Schaya Social Welfare Society (MSSWS) is a voluntary non-profit organization that has significantly impacted the lives of underdeveloped and marginalized villages across various locations in Maharashtra. MSSWS began its work with Tribal, Dalit and other backwards classes in 1975. Since then, the Organization has been owned and managed by the Sisters of the Cross, Amravati, a frontline Voluntary and Non-Government Organization dedicated to the integrated development of the poor and marginalized communities in the backward villages of Amravati and Akola districts and later on in Dahanu block of Thane District and of slums of Martin Nagar, Nagpur. Over the past 49 years, MSSWS has implemented several innovative programs to facilitate development in numerous backward villages and communities. Matru Schaya is strongly committed to reaching out and serving the poor and marginalized families and vulnerable groups, upholding their human dignity and promoting sustainable development.
Mission and Focus: Taking inspiration from Claudine Echernier, the Foundress of the Sisters of the Cross who tirelessly worked for the poor and illiterate, Sr. Jozita launched the Matru Schaya Social Welfare Society to reach out to the poor and vulnerable and empower them through integral development. Our goal is to establish a humane social order based on principles of equality, liberty and justice and uphold the dignity of every individual irrespective of caste, creed or gender. At present the MSSWS has the following units:

⮚ Sponsorship- Amravati, for poor & destitute children
